KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has extended his condolences to the family of the Bukit Assek assemblyman Wong Ho Leng, who died from brain tumour last night.

“My condolences to the family and friend of the late DAP Sarawak state chairman and Bukit Assek assemblyman Wong Ho Leng who passed away yesterday,” said Najib in his Twitter entry today.

The 55 year old politician died at the Rejang Medical Center in Sibu at 10.50pm.

Wong was diagnosed with brain tumour while on holiday in Australia two years ago.

e received treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore where his treatment bill came to about RM1.4 million before being transferred to Rejang Medical Center.

The Sarawak state government on May approved a RM1million aid to meet Wong’s medical expenses, given on humanitarian ground.
