PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has revealed that the Maqasid Syariah Index will be implemented in January next year.

The Syariah index measures the index commitment of Islamic countries in implementing Islamic policies and principles.

“With the index, we can gauge ourselves with other nations and improve on things that can make us better,” he said.

Najib also questioned the absence of the moral basis of war in the conflict between the Zionist regime and Palestinians when many that werw killed were civilians and children.

“Where is the moral basis of war when 90 per cent killed (in the Gaza conflict) are civilians and many are children.

Where is the moral basis of war when schools and hospitals are being bombed?,” he asked.

The prime minister also voiced his concern over efforts to disunite the people by making an issue of the MH17 victims being accorded the military honour and not to the fallen security personnel during the Lahad Datu incursion.

Najib said the government had always appreciated the police and the armed forces.
