KUALA LUMPUR: A high-level meeting between the top PKR leadership took place late Wednesday at Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s house here.
The three-hour meeting is believed to be regarding the names to be put forth for the role of mentri besar to the Selangor Sultan.
Those present at the meeting included deputy president Azmin Ali, women’s wing leader Zuraida Kamaruddin, former state exco member Xavier Jayakumar, PKR Youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad and state government exco member Elizabeth Wong.
When approached by The Star, all refused to comment on the matter.
Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has given Pakatan Rakyat until Sept 3 to submit more names for the mentri besar post.
In a letter from the palace issued on Wednesday to PAS, PKR and DAP, the pact was instructed to give more names by Sept 3, despite the insistence by PKR and DAP to stick to just the PKR president’s name.
The letters addressed to PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng request for the three parties to nominate more than two names each for the post of mentri besar.
