Landslides in Genting Highlands

KUALA LUMPUR: A landslide, caused by heavy rain, forced the closure of the Km 4.2 heading towards Genting Highlands earlier this morning.

It is understood that the midnight downpour had caused the soil on the slope to loosen.

The fallen soil, however, buried a patrol car which was parked at Menara Tinjau, to check the situation.

Fortunately, two auxiliary police who were just metres away from the car, escaped unhurt in the incident, which occurred at about 12.50am today.

Bentong police chief Superintendent Mohamad Mansor Mohamad Nor the incident did not cause any traffic disruption as only part of the road heading towards the affected area was closed.

“There were two landslide incidents which took place with a width of about 20 metres. The area is in the midst of being cleared up,” he added.

As a result of the incident, the road heading to Genting Highlands has been diverted to the opposite lane until to the Chin Swee Cave Temple in Genting Highlands.
