KOTA BARU: The flood situation in Kelantan took turn for the worse again this morning after slightly easing off yesterday.

The number of victims rose above 20,000 today compared with about 17,000 yesterday.

As at 8.30am, 20,468 people were reported to be at relief shelters across eight districts.

The state flood portal showed that Pasir Mas was still the hardest-hit with 10,565 people at evacuation centres.

The other affected districts were Gua Musang (3,692), Tumpat (3,956), Kuala Krai (1,328), Pasir Putih (556) and Tanah Merah (141), Machang (19) and Jeli (211).

Water levels of major rivers except Sungai Golok, were on the rise following rain over the past 12 hours.
