ALOR SETAR: A woman and her daughter are in serious condition after they were stabbed at their home in Taman Harapan, Jalan Kuala Kedah here during an early morning robbery attempt.

It is learnt that the woman’s daughter Nur Amira Ashaari, 22, was awakened by the man when he barged into her room at 4am yesterday.

Her cousin Aidil Ruslan, 25, said the intruder, who had entered through the back door, grabbed Nur Amira’s neck and asked her to keep quiet.

“However, she screamed and was then stabbed by the man,” he said when met at the scene yesterday.

Upon hearing her cries, her mother Adriana Ahmad Kamil, 45, rushed to her rescue but was also attacked.

The intruder then fled the scene, leaving the mother and daughter seriously injured.

Though badly injured and bleeding profusely, Nur Amira sought help from a neighbour who then alerted the police.

Neighbour Cheng Kok Peng, 48, said he heard someone yelling “Tolong! Tolong!” at his gate.

“When I went out, I saw Nur Amira drenched in blood,” he said.

Nur Amira sustained injuries to the chest and left hand while her mum was stabbed in the abdomen and is now in critical condition.

Both the victims have been sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for treatment.

State CID chief Asst Comm Mohd Nashir Ya said the burglar broke into the house by prising open the grille door at the back of the house.

ACP Mohd Nashir added that nothing was reported missing from the house.

Meanwhile, Kota Setar OCPD Asst Comm Adzaman Mohd Jan who visited Nur Amira at the hospital said she was still traumatised by the incident.-thestar
