KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin has got the ladies all riled up again, enough for a group of them to hold a protest outside Parliament on Wednesday.

The Kinabatangan MP was in the limelight last week for an allegedly sexist remark made in Parliament to Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin.

A group of several dozen women from Wanita PKR and some men held up placards at the protest, calling for Bung to apologise for his sexist remarks.

“He has insulted all women everywhere.

“This is not the first time he has insulted women. He must resign and apologise,” said Ampang Wanita PKR chief Salmah Ismail.

She said Bung had made a sexist remark directed at Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin during Parliamentary debates last week.

Referring to Zurida’s debating in the Dewan Rakyat, Bung had said on June 9 that Zuraida’s husband would be frightened at home if the situation was similar.

“He says what he wants and hides inside Parliament.

“It is a disgrace to the House that the Speaker did nothing,” said Wanita PKR deputy chief Haniza Talha at the rally.

Several opposition MPs came out to show their support for the protesters, including Zuraida and Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh.

“We will let the women in Kinabatangan know how lowly he thinks of them and let them decide if they want him as their MP,” said Zuraida.

Salmah said the group would also gather in front of Bung’s house and demand an apology.

The rally, which started around 10am, ended peacefully about an hour later.-thestar
