PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal rejected former MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel’s appeal to quash the Registrar of Societies directive for party re-elections.
A three-man panel headed by Datuk Aziah Ali today dismissed the appeal against a High Court ruling that affirmed the Registrar of Societies (RoS) directive for the party to hold re-elections.
On June 15, the Kuala Lumpur High Court dismissed Palanivel’s judicial review application to maintain the party’s disputed 2013 election results.
Palanivel’s judicial review co-applicants were former MIC secretary-general A. Prakash Rao, and party vice-presidents Datuk S. Sothinathan and Datuk S. Balakrishnan.
The four MIC leaders’ judicial review application had named the RoS, the Home Minister, senator Datuk S. Vikneswaran and party vice-president Datuk M. Saravanan as respondents.
