MERSING: France has given its commitment to provide its full support to Malaysia in the investigation of the plane debris that washed up at La Reunion Island last week.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said the commitment was given when he received a call from his French counterpart Jean-Yves La Drian on Friday night.

“La Drian also said that all the information that they have on the investigation will be forwarded to us,” said Hishammuddin.

He said the debris, which was confirmed to be a flaperon from a Boeing 777 has been sent to the DGA Technique Aeronautique lab in Toulouse, France.

The lab belongs to the General Directorate of Armament, which is under the authority of the French Defence Ministry.
