3-day remand for 11 over the flare-throwing incident: Police

SHAH ALAM: Police have obtained a three-day remand order for 11 people arrested over the flare-throwing incident during the Malaysia – Saudi Arabia World Cup Qualifiers last night.

The remand order was issued by the Shah Alam High Court Deputy Registrar Azizah Jaafar this afternoon.

Police had applied for the three-day remand order for investigations under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.

It was reported that the match held at the Shah Alam Stadium last night was abandoned after fans threw smoke bombs and flares, and also let off missiles two minutes from the end.

The match was officially declared abandoned at 11.10pm last night by Match Commissioner Rufus Prince of India. Saudi Arabia fans were also beaten up outside the stadium.
