Apandi Ali pays last respect to Kevin Morais

KUALA LUMPUR: Attorney General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali led some 100 of his staff paid tribute to the late Anthony Kevin Morais at a wake service held in Nirvana Memorial Centre, Jalan Sungai Besi here, this morning.

Apandi arrived at 10.15am with his staff and were greeted by the late Deputy Public Prosecutor’s youngest brother, Datuk Richard Morais.

“The family are here. We are here to pay our last respects,” he said after an almost one hour visit at the second floor of the memorial centre.

Apandi declined to comment when asked on delay by the family to claim the remains.

This is the second day of the wake at the Centre although the remains are stil in HKL mortuary.

Other family and friends continued to pay last respects to the to the late Morais today.

Security remains tight as the media were not allowed to go up to the second floor.

Morais, 55, went missing since Sept 4, before he was abducted and later killed.

His body was discovered by the police in a concrete-filled oil drum in a swampy ravine in USJ 1, Subang Jaya Sept 16 covered in a sack and stuffed into an oil drum filled with wet concrete.The deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) analysis showed the body to be that of Anthony.

Police have detained 11 individuals between the ages of 22 and 55, including a doctor, a businessman and two mechanics in connection with the case.
