Dr Wee hopes ministry will rectify history textbook that sidelined MCA’s contribution

BATU PAHAT: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong hopes the Education Ministry will immediately rectify the issue in the SJKC Year Six history textbook, in which MCA’s contribution towards the formation of Malaysia was sidelined.

The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department who is also MCA deputy president. said he had conveyed the matter to the Education Minister as well as the ministry’s director-general, who have both given positive responses.

“They have informed me that they will look into the matter promptly and I fervently hope that it will be rectified.

“We want to ensure that there is no incomplete history so our younger generation can fully understand the hard work put in by leaders of all races into the formation of our country,” he said.

Dr Wee was speaking at a press conference after opening the 43rd Federation of Kwang Tung Associations annual general meeting here Saturday.

He had highlighted the matter on his Facebook page posting on Friday, expressing his shock that the late Tan Sri Wong Pow Nee was not mentioned in the Year Six textbook despite the leader’s contributions.
