PUTRAJAYA: Less than three hours after being released, a lawyer was re-arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) here, today.
An MACC spokesman said the lawyer was arrested at 12.40pm to facilitate investigation into illegal bauxite-mining in Kuantan.
He was then brought to MACC Kuantan branch office. The lawyer was one of four individuals who had been released by MACC this morning after their four-day remand period ended today.
MACC had obtained the remand order on the four, aged between 34 and 42, from magistrate Eric Lau on Thursday.
Besides the lawyer, the other three were a businessman who was a former Pahang Minerals and Geoscience Department senior officer; a woman believed to be a mining company employee; and a Pahang Minerals and Geoscience Department senior officer.
They are being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act.
