All 9 Kedah state excos retained

ALOR STAR: All nine Kedah state executive councillors were retained in their respective positions, ending? speculation over who would be in the new lineup.

The swearing-in ceremony took place before the Kedah Regency Council at the Balai Penghadapan, Istana Anak Bukit here today.

The ceremony took place following the appointment of Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah as the state’s Menteri Besar on Feb 4, after the resignation of his predecessor Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.

The oath-taking and signing of their appointment letters was witnessed by Kedah High Court Judge Datuk Hashim Hamzah and Syariah Court Judge Datuk Syeikh Abdul Rahman Abdullah.

However, it is still unknown if there would be a reshuffle of portfolios held by the state reps.

Previously, Guar Chempedak assemblyman, Datuk Dr Ku Abd. Rahman Ku Ismail held the Industry and Investment, Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs portfolios while Sungai Tiang assemblyman Datuk Suraya Yaacob was the state Women, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, Entrepreneur Development, Women’s Welfare Committee chairman.

Tanjong Dawai assemblyman Datuk Tajul Urus Mat Zain was the Education, Transport and Housing Committee chairman and Kuala Nerang assemblyman Datuk Badrol Hisham Hashim held the Local Government, Water Supply, Water Resources and Energy, Non-Governmental Bodies portfolio.

Ayer Hangat assemblyman Datuk Mohd Rawi Abdul Hamid, on the other hand, was in charge of the Religious, Siamese Community Affairs, Tourism and Heritage, Public Works portfolios while Belantik assemblyman Datuk Mohd Tajuddin Abdullah was the Information, Rural Development, Poverty Eradication Committee chairman.

Bandar Baharu assemblyman Datuk Norsabrina Mohd Noor was the Science, Innovation and Information Technology, Communication and Advanced Technology and Information Resources Committee chairman and Jitra assemblyman Datuk Aminuddin Omar held the Youth and Sports, Arts and Culture, Human Development porfolios.

The ninth state exco, Gurun assemblyman Datuk Dr Leong Yong Kong was previously the Environment, Chinese and Indian Community Affairs, Health and Solidarity Committee chairman.-nst
