Bernama India foreign correspondent dies

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) India foreign correspondent, M. Santhiran (pic) died due to complications after being warded at the Primus Chanakyapuri Hospital, New Delhi, early Sunday morning.

Santhiran, 48, was admitted to the hospital last Friday after suffering from diarrhea.

His eldest son, S. Ruthran, 18, when contacted by Bernama said his father died at 11.40pm local time (Malaysia 2.10am).

“My father had diabetes since eight years ago and, because of it, suffered from several complications such as kidney problem and low blood pressure,” he said.

He said his remains would be buried in Puchong, Selangor after arrangement with the Malaysian Embassy in New Delhi is made to bring back the body to Malaysia.

Santhiran joined Bernama in October 2002 and served as Bernama’s foreign correspondent in India since Feb 1, 2015.

He is survived by his wife Malarvili Dorasamy, 47, and two sons. – Bernama
