No record of purported RM42m money transfer; allegations based on unsubstantiated info, says PM

KUALA LUMPUR: SRC International has no record of a purported transfer of RM42 million to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s personal bank account.

Najib, who is also finance minister, said this in a written reply to Wong Chen (PKR-Kelana Jaya) today. He said the allegations were based on a report by a news portal which “contained unsubstantiated information”.

“SRC International has no record whatsoever about the issue and it is also based on a news report from a portal that was unable to determine the authenticity of its source.

“Hence, under Standing Order 23(1)(i), this matter needs no reply because it is a question asking for clarification on something in the newspaper.”

Wong had asked Najib, in his capacity as finance minister, to state the person who had approved the purported transfer of RM42 million from SRC International to the latter’s personal bank account.

He had also asked whether the RM42 million had been returned to SRC International.

SRC International is a former subsidiary of state-owned 1Malaysia Development Bhd, but is now parked under the Finance Ministry.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali, in January, announced that Najib had been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing in relation to investigations into a RM2.6 billion donation and SRC International.

Apandi had said MACC investigations concluded that Najib had not committed any criminal offences under the MACC Act 2009 and the Penal Code.-nst
