SMK King George clear the air over student’s drowning case

SEREMBAN: The SMK King George V (KGV) school management has come forward to help clear the air over the misconception over a case involving its Form Five student, who drowned at the school pool on Feb 26.

Its principal Datuk Mohd Md Isa said Muhammad Daniel Abdul Razak was helping the teacher to decorate the area for the school sports day before the incident took place.

“Since the incident, his family members and friends were saddened by the misconception that Daniel was a disobedient student.

“Daniel was a friendly, good-mannered and kind-hearted student. He respected his peers and superiors. Although he just transferred to the school last year, he was loved by his friends and teachers.

“On the day of the incident, he was helping teachers prepare for the sports day to be held on the following day at the pool.

“He and his friends started decoration works in the morning and stopped at noon to prepare for Friday prayers.

The teacher had asked them to come back at 3pm, but they went into the pool earlier without the presence of a teacher,” he told a press conference at the school, here, today.

Mohd said the school had explained to the family the details of the incident and the family had requested that the school to defend Daniel’s reputation.

He said the school’s teachers and some of Daniel’s friends were traumatised by the incident and they were receiving counselling It was reported that Daniel had drowned at the school pool while swimming with a group of friends.-nst
