KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk M. Saravanan (pic) has settled his libel suit with former MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel at the High Court here Wednesday.

The High Court’s Justice Mohd Zaki Abdul Wahab recorded the consent judgment in chambers.

Saravanan’s lawyer V. Premshangar said that the suit was settled after Palanivel retracted his statement and apologised.

When met by the media, Saravanan said he accepted the retraction and apology from Palanivel, an MIC leader who had served the party for over 40 years.

Palanivel was not present in court and was represented by lawyer R. Thayalan, who confirmed the settlement.

Saravanan had sued Palanivel and two others for allegedly implying that he had misused a fund for his own interest.-Thestar
