‘Umno won’t enter Sarawak, not now, not ever’

KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy president Datuk Abang Johari Openg gave his assurance that Umno will not enter Sarawak, not now nor in the future.

Sarawak Barisan Nasional, he said, has a mutual understanding with Umno as well as leaders from Peninsular Malaysia that the state will continue to lead local-based parties.

“Leaders over there (in the Peninsula) understand that the Bumiputera here comprise various ethnic groups with different cultures and background.

Hence, they respect us and leave it (politics) to us,” he said. Johari, who is also Satok assemblyman, said such wild accusations by the Opposition were not something new.

“In the last election, they (Opposition) said that I was bringing Umno to Sarawak, and they have now switched their target to (Datuk Seri) Fadillah Yusof,” he told reporters.

“Maybe I’m old already, so they are targeting our youth leader (Fadillah) this time. To me, that’s very cheap propaganda.

They have no idea on what else to raise.

“The people of Sarawak won’t be fooled by the same old stories,” he said.-nst
