Gov’t plans to allocate RM500 mln for Youth Entrepreneurs Fund -Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR: The government plans to set up a Youth Entrepreneurs Fund with an allocation of RM500 to help the group in entrepreneurship.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the fund would be handled by the Youth and Sports Ministry.

“The setting up of the fund is to coordinate numerous funds related to youth development and entrepreneurship handled by numerous agencies prior to this,” he said when launching the 2016 National Youth Day celebrations at Universiti Putra Malaysia here, today.

He hoped that the ministry would be further empowered with the fund as it is the umbrella body for youths nationwide.

He also hoped that the programme would bolster the spirit of the youths to simultaneously empower youth associations.

Meantime, Zahid said as future leaders, youths must also be given more opportunities in numerous fields including politics.

He said the strength of youths today was not only measured via their spirit but should be interpreted through hard work and cooperation regardless of their backgrounds. –BERNAMA
