(Football) Malaysia draws 1-1 with Fiji

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia ended their Tour of Oceania with a 1-1 draw with Fiji at the Prince Charles Park in Nadi today.

Striker Amri Yahyah opened for Malaysia in the 41st minute when he converted S. Chanturu’s pass. However, Roy Krishna, who plays for Wellington Phoenix in Australia’s A-League, equalised for Fiji in the 72nd minute.

Malaysia created countless opportunities, especially in the first half, but they could not convert them. It is the first draw between both teams in four meetings.

In earlier matches in Oceania, Malaysia lost 2-0 to Nations Cup finallists Papua New Guinea but bounced back with a 2-1 win over New Caledonia. The team will return to Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.
