BALIK PULAU: The Sessions Court here today fixed July 26 for mention of a case involving a tour guide who was charged with providing financial services to fund terrorism-related activities last month.
Deputy Public Prosecutor J.G. Kaameni requested the court for the date pending a requisition to transfer the case to the High Court.
Judge Hilmi Ghani allowed the request and fixed July 26 for mention. On June 14, Lisoffuan Abdullah, 37, was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here with providing financial services to fund terrorism-related activities.
No plea was recorded from the accused, who merely nodded when asked if he understood the charge.
Lisoffuan is accused of having provided financial services by allowing a bank account to be used for withdrawal and deposit purposes which benefited militant Muhammad Joraimee Awang Raimee, 41.
He allegedly committed the offence between Oct 21 last year and April 29 this year.
Lissofuan, who was unrepresented, was charged under Section 130Q(1) of the Penal Code which carries 20 years jail or fine and liable to forfeiture of any property. The bespectacled Lissoff was present in court this morning.-nst
