KUALA LUMPUR: A Lower Syariah Court here has directed rock singer Awie (pic) to pay RM4,000 in child maintenance each month to his two children who are being cared for by former wife Rozana Misbun.
Syariah judge Che Saupi Che Husin made the order in the presence of both parties yesterday.
Judge Che Saupi instructed RM3,000 in child maintenance for the basic needs of the children including education, food, medical and clothes, to be given to Putra Ahmad Rezzki, eight, and Puteri Qasseh Antasha, six, every month.
He also directed another RM1,000, being the rental of the house, to be paid to them.
“I order the payment be paid on or before the fifth of each month with immediate effect,” he said.
Judge Che Saupi also granted Rozana’s claim on the preparation of Aidil Adha and schooling but no amount was given.
Rozana, 38, filed for child maintenance claim on Nov 5 last year, asking for RM5,300 a month to be given to the two children.
The claim was for food and basic needs of RM3,000, RM1,500 for house rental and RM800 for maid.
She also claimed RM2,000 once every three months to buy clothes for the children.
Rozana had also sought for Awie or Ahmad Azhar Othman, 48, to pay RM1,500 for schooling preparation for both children and RM3,000 for clothes each festive season.
Rozana filed the claim under Section 73 of the Federal Territory Islamic Family Law 1984.
Rozana and Awie have three children with the first child, Putra Ahmad Merrah, nine, under Awie’s care.-thestar
