Chong Sin Woon: Govt to expand trust schools programme to rural areas

JOHOR BARU: The Education Ministry aims to expand its Trust School Programme to more schools in rural areas as well as minority schools.

Deputy Education Minister II Chong Sin Woon said the government hoped to involve more vernacular schools, orang asli schools and under-enrolled schools in the programme.

He said it is hoped that the number of trust schools would increase to 700 by 2025 from the current 63.

“Now we have trust schools in nine states and we hope to have trust schools all over Malaysia,” he told the press after launching the Trust Schools Conference here on Tuesday.-thestar
