KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a 26-year-old man who allegedly set a businessman’s Mercedes-Benz ablaze at Laman Rimbunan in Kepong near here.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm R Munusamy said police were alerted about the incident at about 2.30am on Monday.

ACP Munusamy said the businessman, 55, had parked his car along Jalan Laman Rimbunan 1 to open his karaoke shop at about 6pm on Sunday.

He said at about 2am, the businessman was informed by his employee that his car was on fire.

ACP Munusamy said the front portion of the car was burnt to a crisp with the back seat being gutted by the fire.

He said that CCTV footage from a shop revealed that a man, who was riding a Honda EX-5 motorcycle, had set the car ablaze.

ACP Munusamy said police have arrested the suspect.

He added that the case was being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire.-thestar
