Najib outlines four key principles for Umno to remain relevant to Sabahans

KUDAT: Umno will uphold four key principles in Sabah to remain relevant to the people, party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak said.

Political stability, inclusivity, security and development are key thrusts in its struggles and agenda for the people in the state, said Najib when launching the Zone 1 Umno Sabah division meeting here.

Najib was accompanied by Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Musa Aman.

“People are not bothered by unfounded stories that are hard to understand like those portrayed in the Wall Street Journal or 1MDB as they are more concerned on their needs.

“If we put our focus on the needs of the people, we can deliver. We are a government with an agenda that emphasises on the people’s interest first and we are a government that delivers.”

The four divisions under the zone were Kudat, which is headed by Datuk Bolkiah Ismail, Kota Marudu by Datuk Wetrom Bahanda, Kota Belud by Datuk Seri Salleh Said and Tuaran by Datuk Hajiji Mohd Noor.

Najib said that despite being the youngest member in Umno, the state now has the largest number of members and branches.

“Sabah has been a source of strength for the party especially with loyal members who were nurtured and groomed with noble values who have touched my heart.

“If we continue to embrace such values, I believe the party will remain strong,” he said.

“We do not need someone who abandons ship when they are not able to get what they want and form a new party to go against Umno.”-nst
