Decomposing body found floating in Klang River

KUALA LUMPUR: The decomposing body of a man was found floating in the Klang River at Taman Angkasa, Puchong here this morning.

The victim, whose identity is yet to be determined as police found no identification documents on his body, was clad in a blue round-necked t-shirt and a pair of blue jeans with a black belt.

Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Sharul Othman Mansor said they received a call at 7.16am which reported that there was a body floating in the river near a petrol station there.

He said a team of seven firemen who were called to the scene fished out the body before police Forensics Unit officers performed checks.

“From initial observations, police believe that the body had been in the water for about two days.

“However, the Forensics Unit could not determine what caused the man’s death, and the body was sent to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital for post-mortem,” Sharul said.

He added that the case is classified as sudden death, pending the post-mortem report. Anyone with information on the victim’s possible identity is urged to contact the nearest police station or Brickfields police headquarters immediately.
