Former security guard acquitted of murder, ordered to psychiatric hospital

JOHOR BARU: A former security guard was today discharged and acquitted of two charges of murder and causing grievous hurt after the High Court here found him to be of unsound mind when committing the offences.

Judge Datuk Mohd Sofian Abd Razak made the decision after he found that the defence successfully proved that the accused, Rosly Mohd Ismail, was of unsound mind when committing the two offences in April last year.

However, Sofian ordered Rosly to be sent to the Permai Hospital in Tampoi here.

Rosly, 45, was accused of murdering bank manager Ho Chin Tau on the first floor of the HSBC Bank at Jalan 1/10, Taman Molek here at 3.40pm on April 17, 2015.

He is charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

He was also accused of causing grievous to bank employee R.G. Vasantha Devi, 54 where he was charged under Section 326 of the Penal Code.-nst
