GEORGE TOWN: A Middle Eastern tourist was injured when the jet ski she was riding near here yesterday collided with another jet ski ridden by two Myanmar tourists.

Penang Island City Council Corporate Department director Mohamed Akbar Mustapha confirmed that the incident occurred off a beachfront hotel in Batu Ferringhi, but declined to elaborate.

“I have not received the full details of the incident so far,” he told the New Straits Times when contacted.

He said an inquiry will be held on the jet ski operator this week to ascertain the cause of the accident.

It is believed the Middle Eastern woman sustained injuries to her knees in the collision and fell into the sea in the 6pm incident.

She was brought to shore in a watersports operator’s boat.

The two Myanmar nationals on the other jet ski were not injured
