Man burns to death as car catches fire in Taman Megah

KUALA LUMPUR: A man burnt to death when the car he was in caught fire in Taman Megah, Cheras, this afternoon.

The incident took place at 5.30pm at Jalan Megah 21. The circumstances which led to the blaze remain unknown at press time.

According to an eyewitness, the victim was trapped in the car. Attempts by members of the public to free the man from the burning vehicle failed as the fire spread rapidly.

Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Othman Nanyan said the identity of the victim has yet to be ascertained.

“Checks showed that the car belonged to a 52-year-old man whose listed address is in Taman Murni Batu 9, Cheras,” he said.

Police have classified the case as sudden death. The body was brought to the Kajang Hospital for a post-mortem examination. -nst
