Man who made off with RM260,000 from Malacca cinema charged today

MALACCA: A 25-year-old man was charged at the Sessions Court here today with robbing a movie theater of more than RM260,000 in cash last May.

Mohd Azrul Azahari from Terengganu appeared in court this morning and pleaded not guilty to charges of robbing the movie theater before Judge Norma Ismail.

He was charged with robbing the Golden Screen Cinema (GSC) office in Aeon Bandaraya Melaka at 3.30pm on May 2, with another accomplice who is still at large.

He allegedly made off with RM260,194.15 in cash from the cinema, an offence under Section 395 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail of 20 years and caning.

Counsel Jason Goh represented the accused and Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Shazwani Ishak prosecuted.
