TOKYO: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has arrived here Tuesday morning to begin his three-day official visit to Japan.
The Prime Minister and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor touched down at Haneda International Airport at 7am (Tokyo time) where they were met by Japanese and Malaysian officials.
Also present was Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Makio Miyagawa.
Najib and Rosmah were later greeted by a larger group of people at the Imperial Hotel where they will be putting up during their stay.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe at the latter’s official residence on Wednesday.
They will witness a signing of agreement and exchange of notes over the donation of two Japanese offshore patrol vessels to the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) as well as a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Japan External Trade Organisation (Jetro) and Matrade.
Najib will later meet with Japan’s Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Keiichi Ishii and also Japan External Trade Organisation CEO Hiroyuki Ishige.
The Japan-Malaysia Parliamentary Friendship Association will also pay a courtesy call to Najib.
Rosmah will have her own official itinerary in Tokyo, which will include a meeting with Abe’s wife, Akie.-thestar
