Najib scoffs at Tun Mahathir-Kit Siang partnership

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has slammed the newly-formed opposition partnership between Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang.

Speaking at the MCA annual general assembly today, Najib, who is also Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, questioned the sincerity of the partnership between once-enemies Dr Mahathir and Lim.

“You think Lim really likes Dr Mahathir? You think Dr Mahathir really likes Lim? “Dr Mahathir once openly said that Lim is a racist, anti-Malay and anti-Islam.

Lim has accused Dr Mahathir of being a dictator, practising cronyism and much more.

“This is the politics of hypocrisy at its (most extreme)… How can we believe in a political pact based on hypocrisy?”

Najib said the people cannot afford to put their future on the line by relying on a political pact that has no element of sincerity.

He stressed that BN, as the ruling coalition, would continue to work hard for all Malaysians. “Let them play the politics of hate. BN will work and deliver for the people and the country,” he added.

At the inaugural Pakatan Harapan convention yesterday, Tun Mahathir announced that PPBM will join Pakatan Harapan once some issues were ironed out, among which is Pas’ inclusion in the opposition pact. -nst
