PENAMPANG: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) is eyeing six state seats out of the 13 new seats created from the Election Commission’s redelineation process, as it is confident of its chances in traditional stronghold areas.
Deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili, who is Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister, said while party leaders have discussed the matter with Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman and other leaders, it is still too early to say whether PBS will be able to secure the seats.
“The areas are winnable based on our party composition and the people (we have identified) who can carry the flag there.
“But of course, we have to compromise and talk with the (state) leadership. We are happy to discuss and reach a consensus,” he told reporters after opening the party youth and women’s wings delegates conference here.
Last week, the United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) voiced interest in having four seats out of the new 13 during its conference.-nst
