KUALA LUMPUR: Police have netted a suspect in the case of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2016 examination papers allegedly being sold online.
Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said yesterday he was informed about the arrest of a suspect following an investigation, but that the individual is not from the ministry as claimed by a local Chinese daily on Sunday.
“The Investigation (is ongoing), and the identity (of the suspect) has not been revealed (to us).
“But the person is definitely not from the ministry,” he told reporters after launching Mamee Monsters’ first-ever biscuit “Monster Biskidz” with DHA at Sekolah Kebangsaan Dato’ Onn Jaafar A check with police revealed investigation papers on the report, lodged by the Malaysian Examinations Board in Putrajaya, have been forwarded to the Federal police headquarters.
On Sunday, a local Chinese daily reported that several senior officers from the ministry were involved in a syndicate selling SPM 2016 examination papers.
Mahdzir had earlier denied the existence of such a syndicate masterminded by officers from his ministry.-nst
