Selfie magnet emerges at Umno General Assembly, Datin Mastura pulls in the fans

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite being a first-time delegate at the 2016 Umno General Assembly, Kuala Kangsar MP Datin Mastura Mohd Yazid is no stranger to her counterparts.

At the assembly, she has become a ‘selfie’ magnet due to her likeable personality along with the presence of her three friendly sons, Wan Emir Astar, Wan Imar and Wan Iskandar.

“The assembly has always been a wonderful yearly affair for me even though I came as an observer when my late husband (Datuk Wan Mohammad Khairil Anuar Wan Ahmad) was a delegate,” she told the New Straits Times at PWTC earlier today.

Mastura has also been listening intently to the speeches and debates at the assembly to take cues and to keep abreast on the latest bread and butter issues.

“I am listening to all of the recordings as well and I have been taking notes. I will consider bringing the issues raised during in speeches and debates, not matter how small, to the parliament.

“Issues that are close to my heart include the economy with regards to women and opportunities on a global scale for our young,” she said.

On her sons’ attendance at the yearly political affair, Mastura said she hoped they will assist in the struggles of race, religion and the nation.

When asked if she would encourage them to join politics, she replied, “I would like them to be involved in the struggles but on the politics side, I will leave that decision to them.”
