Amok bodyguard in Penang: RTM videographer recovering after operation

GEORGE TOWN: A 28-year-old videographer who was hit by a stray bullet yesterday is recovering well following an operation at Penang Hospital.

Mohamad Amirul Amin, from Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), was shot in the shoulder while riding a motorcycle in Gelugor off the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway at about 7.30pm last night.

Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mior Farid Alathrash Wahid said Amirul had the operation to remove the bullet from his wound.

His condition is reported to be stable.

Amirul has been warded at the intensive care unit of the hospital.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar is expected to visit Amirul at noon.

It was reported that the bodyguard of 32-year-old businessman Datuk Ong Teik Kwong ran amok yesterday, shooting dead his boss and two other people following an argument in a car.

The others killed was a man whose car was 200 metres away from Ong’s, and another man who was driving along a road parallel to the expressway.

Police later arrested the bodyguard not far from the scene.-nst
