JITRA: An elderly couple from Padang Sera, Kodiang cheated death when a runaway lorry crashed into their house in Kampung Alor Janggus here yesterday evening.

During the 5pm incident, the couple – Fazilah Ramli, in his 60s, and wife Hasnah Ahmad, in her 50s – were having a nap when the ‘uninvited guest’ crashed into their single-storey home.

Miraculously, the lorry missed the couple but their house’s living hall was completely destroyed while the kitchen was flooded by the lorry’s latex cargo.

Kubang Pasu police chief Superintendent Abd Hadi Hassan said the lorry driver escaped with minor injury, and added that an investigation is underway.-nst
