Najib tips hat to myPPP for loyalty, commitment, to BN

KUALA LUMPUR: As a component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN), the Peace, Progress and Prosperity (myPPP) party has continuously proven to be committed and loyal.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, in congratulating myPPP, said the party has shown that although it is relatively small, it remains active under the leadership of president Tan Sri M. Kayveas.

“myPPP is a progressive party that knows that in order for us to move forward, and change in accordance with time, we need to embrace the digital world.

“This is also the government’s aim under my leadership. If we want to be an agent of change, it does not mean we need a regime change or a change of government. But BN must show that we are the agent of transformation and change.

“Why I say this is because (we know that political changes) don’t necessarily lead to positive outcomes,” he said in his keynote address at myPPP’s 63rd Annual General Assembly at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) today.

Najib also reminded party members not to be duped by the opposition’s negative propaganda, as it promises things that would unlikely ever be realised.

On the issue of seat allocations for the party in the upcoming 14th general elections, myPPP said it leaves the decision to the top leadership of BN. Kayveas said the party is not asking for allocations, but will accept them if offered by BN.

“If BN does not offer them, we will also accept the decision,” he told reporters here today.

Kayveas said under the new system, all component parties have to return their traditional seats to BN’s top leadership, who will then make a decision on how many seats will be contested for by each component party.

“BN will decide on how many seats myPPP will get and there is no such thing as fixed seats for us,” said Kayveas.-nst
