Pas’ Nik Abduh rallies Muslims, M’sians to stand behind Rohingya

KUALA LUMPUR: Pas Youth leader Nik Abduh Nik Aziz today called on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to take the lead in championing calls to end the atrocity taking place against the Rohingyas in Myanmar.

“Myanmar is our neighbour and (as such), we must be aware of our responsibilities towards them. “Our Muslim brothers and sisters in Myanmar are living in pain.

We cannot allow our neighbours to be hungry or to be subjected to cruel acts.

“Let us make a promise today that we, Malaysia, will be at the forefront in voicing out pleas and in championing calls to put an end to the sufferings of Rohingyas in Myanmar,” he said in his speech at the Solidarity Gathering for Rohingyas at Stadium Titiwangsa here today.

Nik Abduh said the gathering represents the stand of all Malaysians and Muslims worldwide that the brutality directed towards the Rohingyas in Myanmar must end.

“They (the Rohingyas) are ill-treated only because they are weak.

If we (all Muslims) come together as one and voice our concerns, we may be able to end this.

“Today, we pray and call upon Allah to be with us. Insyaallah, with Allah with us, our voice will be louder and heard (by those concerned),” he added.

Nik Abduh delivered his speech to more than 10,000 Malaysians and Rohingyas gathered at Stadium Titiwangsa for the rally.-nst
