RMAF air crash survivor, Lieutenant Hamid, transferred to KL hospital

BUTTERWORTH: One of three survivors of the Beechcraft B200T Turboprop which crashed at the Butterworth Airbase here yesterday has been transferred to Tuanku Mizan Army Hospital in Kuala Lumpur.

Sources from the Defence Ministry said Lieutenant Hamid Ahmad Hanafi was moved to the army hospital last night.

“The two other victims of the crash, co-pilot Captain Wai Lik and Sergeant Mohd Sofi Azizan, are still receiving treatment at the Penang Hospital,” the source revealed.

In the 5.18pm incident, the aircraft’s pilot, Major Kayamboo Chellam, 44, died on the spot due to injuries to his head and body.

The aircraft had left the Subang Airbase at 3.30pm yesterday and crashed while landing at the Butterworth Airbase.
