Year-end bonus for Penang’s civil servants

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang government will remunerate civil servants in the state a half month year-end bonus or a minimum RM700.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said some 4,200 civil servants would benefit from this year-end incentive. “The bonus, a total of RM4.2 million, will be paid out on Dec 22.

“The state government has also approved the payment of an additional quarterly bonus (which will be) 25 per cent of monthly salaries to civil servants who did not take sick leave for more than 4 days until November 2016 as attendance incentive,” Lim said in a press statement here today.

He said a special bonus would also be extended to 1,502 supervisors and religious teachers comprising 225 teachers in primary schools and another 185 in secondary schools.

Another 522 teachers from Chinese private schools would receive RM300 each and 279 tahfiz teachers and Islamic kindergarten teachers would receive RM200 each. Lim added that this extra disbursement would amount to RM786,000.-nst
