BELURAN: A man burned to death in a fire which destroyed a two-storey house in Kampung Kubambangan Paitan yesterday.

The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department’s operations centre said they received a distress call at 7.42pm, but due to the remoteness of the location, which is about 195km from the Kota Marudu fire and rescue station, firemen only reached the scene about three hours later.

By the time the firemen arrived, the two-storey house was gutted, as were two cars, a Honda Accord and a Proton Aeroback. The victim was identified as Ritaudin Ghapur, 31.

His body was handed over to the police for further action.

The cause of the fire is being investigated. — Bernama
