Pahang still worst-affected by floods, but evacuee number drops

KUANTAN: The number of flood victims in Pahang, the state worst-affected by the national natural disaster, dropped to 6,354 people from 1,699 families as of 8am, from 7,187 people from 1,926 families as of 9pm yesterday.

Pahang Civil Defence Force director Zainal Yussof said Temerloh has the highest number of evacuees at 2,970 people, followed by Lipis (934), Jerantut (776), Bera (573), Maran (468), Pekan (414) and Rompin (219).

The evacuees are sheltered at 108 relief centres in the seven districts. Yesterday morning, Pahang had 7,138 evacuees from 1,948 families – the highest number compared to the other flooded states of Johor, Kelantan, Perak, Selangor, and Sarawak.-nst
