Sarawak police on hunt for FB user over “slanderous” Abang Johari post

KUCHING: Police are in the process of tracking down a Facebook user who posted a viral message deemed slanderous towards Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Abang Openg.

Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Dev Kumar said the Facebook user will be brought in for questioning once identified.

He said a police report was lodged against the social media post – which allegedly tried to drive a wedge between the Federal and state governments – at the Central Police station here at 3pm yesterday.

In the wake of the viral post, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Tuesday denied that Abang Johari had issued a “warning” to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s administration over the matter of the devolution of powers involving the state – as claimed by the Facebook poster.

“We have commenced investigation under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” Dev said.
