JB ambulance transporting 4-year-old boy rammed

JOHOR BARU: A 27-year-old woman, an ambulance driver and a clinic attendant were injured when their ambulance was smashed into by a Toyota Innova, causing it to roll onto its side, at 9.40pm yesterday.

The accident occurred at a traffic light junction at Jalan Persiaran Seri Alam here.

Seri Alam police chief Superintendent Jokhiri Abd Aziz said the ambulance, which had its beacon and siren on, was transporting a four-year-old boy who was suffering a seizure to the Sultan Ismail Hospital here.

Jokhiri said the ambulance, from the Masai Health Clinic (Klinik Kesihatan Masai), was passing the traffic light when the car, from the left of the junction, collided with the ambulance.

Jokhiri said other vehicles had given way to the ambulance at the time of the incident. “The impact of the crash caused the ambulance to overturn,” Jokhiri said in a statement.

The 44-year-old ambulance driver, a clinic attendant, and the woman, who is the boy’s mother, all sustained slight injuries, while the boy and a medical assistant, 27, were unhurt.

The 21-year-old driver also suffered slight injuries.-nst
