Johor MB: Let MACC investigate land graft scandal

JOHOR BARU: Let the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) do its job – Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said this over the investigation relating to the land corruption scandal that saw the arrest of six including those linked to a state executive councillor.

The Johor Mentri Besar said MACC’s action to detain them must have been based on some form of evidence.

“Let MACC investigate, we will wait and see for investigations to conclude.

“It is too premature for me to say anything now,” he told reporters after attending a school bus subsidy programme here on Sunday.

When asked if the state government would be conducting internal investigations among its officials, Mohamed Khaled refused to comment.
It was reported that the son of a state executive councillor and a special officer to the councillor have been arrested by anti-graft officers over the scandal.

MACC also seized 21 posh cars and five high-powered motorcycles – from luxury names such as Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Range Rover and Harley Davidson – during a swoop that began on Friday morning.

Besides the son and special officer, it is learnt that two developers, a lawyer and another person were also arrested.

A total of 45 bank accounts, which contained RM15.5mil belonging to the six suspects, has been frozen.-thestar
