JOHOR BARU: A quarrel between a lorry driver and several men ended in his death after he threatened to make public nude pictures of one of the men’s girlfriend.

Johor Baru (South) OCPD Asst Comm Sulaiman Salleh said police were notified by Sultanah Aminah Hospital that the body of a man was brought there by an unidentified person on Monday.

Several injuries were found on the face and body, he said.

The lorry driver, 38, was a married man with no criminal record.

ACP Sulaiman said police were withholding the victim’s name because the family had requested that it not be released to the press.

He said five suspects were detained over the murder after police raided several places in Mersing, Shah Alam and here on Tuesday.

The suspects, including a woman, were aged between 23 and 31.

ACP Sulaiman said police have identified several other suspects and were tracking them down.

But police believed that with the arrest of the five within 24 hours of receiving the report, they had solved the case.

ACP Sulaiman said the lorry driver had threatened to release the nude pictures and was attacked by the woman’s boyfriend, 31.

The boyfriend has a criminal record for murder in 2015, said ACP Sulaiman.

The other suspects have no police records.
