PKR lauds Pas-PPBM joint-technical committee formation

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR has welcomed the announced formation of a joint-technical committee by Pas and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).

Both parties formed the committee to achieve an understanding on a possible collaboration in the 14th general election (GE14).

PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said this latest development between Pas and PPBM reflects maturity by their leaders, in their aim to achieve an understanding for the people’s benefit.

He said the formation of the committee is a positive and ongoing move towards strengthening a two-party system, and to provide a political alternative which is dynamic, strong and viable for the people.

“PKR will continue to cooperate with Pas and PPBM to strengthen the consensus and empower a pact of progressive political parties, which in turn, will motivate the people towards (ensuring) victory in the 14th general election,” said Azmin, who is also Selangor Menteri Besar, in a statement today.

In a joint statement yesterday, Pas and PPBM said the decision to form the committee was decided at a meeting involving leaders from the two parties.

The statement, quoting the names of Pas deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and PPBM deputy president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, said the meeting refined the framework agreement draft on Pas-PPBM’s political understanding in facing GE14, and several other positive assessments were also achieved in an effort to form a partnership.

“The framework agreement between Pas and PPBM will be refined by the top leadership of both parties, which the presidents of both parties will sign soon,” the statement said.
