ALOR STAR: The Magistrate’s Court here today ordered seven men to be detained under the Prevention of Crime Act (Poca) 1959 on suspicion of being involved in triad activities.

The detention order was issued by Magistrate Mohd Khairul Hafizuddin Ramli under Section 4(1) (a) Poca 1959 following an application by Deputy Public Prosecutor Naizatul Zima Tajuddin in a closed proceeding.

Naizatul Zima, when met outside the court said the 21-day remand order issued under the Act, takes effect today.

It is learnt that the suspects aged between 20 and 50, were detained in Kuala Muda and Kulim districts recently.

Kedah police are expected to issue a statement on the arrests soon.-nst
